Come and join us for a once in lifetime opportunity: Snorkel with Whale sharks!
Every year between July and mid-September, Whale sharks come to feed in the nutrient-rich waters surrounding Isla Mujeres.
Whale sharks are the world’s largest living fish species, capable of growing up to 40 feet in length and can weighing as much as 13 tons. These massive, gentle creatures are early risers, feeding on plankton close to the surface before the sun warms the water. So, to ensure that you get the most from this memorable day, a 4Worlds Expeditions guide will pick you up from the resort early in the morning and drive you to the marina. Once at the marina, a safety briefing will be given before we board the boat and head out.
Whale sharks are constantly on the move, so once on the water, we will spend 40 to 60 minutes locating them. Shorlty after finding them, you will jump into the water in pairs (2 guest + guide), spending a minimum of 1 hour with these incredible, graceful giants.
Afterwards we will head to the northern beach of Isla Mujeres, where you can relax and unwind in the turquoise waters, while enjoying a delicious Mexican ceviche and a cold drink before returning to the marina and the resort.
Bathing suit or wet suit (if you have your own), beach towel, sandals or diving shoes, biodegradable sun protection or sun block if needed (but we suggest wearing a t-shirt while in the water), hat, water camera or video camera, shorts, tablets against seasickness and money for souvenirs.
This expedition is not recommended for people with severe back problems, any severe physical or motor handicap, those with serious heart or blood pressure related problems, or pregnant women.
