Your encounter with the Maya culture starts with a 1,500 year-old historical journey to the ancestral city of Coba, an archaeological site hidden deep inside the rain forest of south-eastern Yucatan Peninsula. The Mayan Ruins of Coba are one of the most important archaeological sites in the area and not frequently visited by tourists. Built between two lakes, it was at one time a very large city spread over 80 square kilometers (49 miles).
Biking through the ruins and temples, still covered by vegetation, you will literally feel the ancient rhythms and energy of this once Mayan Ceremonial Centre, then after climbing the Nohoch-Muul temple (the tallest pyramid of the state), you will be able to admire the beauty and immeasurable vastness of the surrounding sub-tropical rain forest.
As you snorkel in the crystal waters of the sacred underground caves, marvel at the natural underwater formations of stalactites and stalagmites. This underground river is full of mystery, enchantment and beauty. As you descend into this magical underground world, you will come across incomparable subterranean marvels.
